General Visiting Hours
UAMS Medical Center recognizes that visits are good for a patients therapy,
and we encourage family members and friends to visit patients. General visiting hours are
10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. unless otherwise specified. Children under 12 years of age are not
allowed above the first floor, except as specified. If you have questions about the number
of visitors permitted or visiting hours, please check with your nurse.Intensive Care
The Medical, Surgical, and Neuro Intensive Care Units are located on the 4th
floor, Unit 4E, of the Harry P. Ward Bed Tower. The intensive care suites are equipped
with state-of-the-art technology and resources that support and enhance our ability to
provide intensive one-on-one patient care to critically ill patients. The ICU Hostess is
available to assist in facilitating communication between patient care staff, patients,
and their family members. The ICU Hostess monitors the ICU Family Waiting Areas to ensure
that family members are comfortable and their needs are being met.
Visiting Hours for these Intensive Care Units are:
9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
8:00 - 10:00 p.m.
These times have been chosen not only to allow the nurses time to assess and care for
the patients, but also to give family members time to eat, rest, and have breaks away from
the hospital. If these times conflict with your work schedule or you have other
commitments, please speak with the nurse; a visiting contract can be designed to meet your
needs.
We ask that visitors be limited to two people at a time. Visitors will not be allowed
in during procedures, nursing report, or during an emergency situation. Children under the
age of fourteen may visit only after consulting with the nurse and physician. It is in
your childrens best interest to not bring them to the hospital. (Refer to the Child
Care section of this booklet for information on our drop-in child care program.)
Critical Care/Cardiovascular Intensive Care (CCU/CVICU):
This unit is located on the 6th floor, Unit 6B. A maximum of two family members may be
in the room at a time. Visiting times are for 10 minutes at:
9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
8:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Intensive Care Nursery (ICN):
Observes general visiting hours.
Labor and Delivery:
