uams campus UAMS, the home of Arkansas' only teaching hospital, with clinics covering every medical specialty and a staff of more than 800 doctors, is committed to improving the health of Arkansans. Located in Little Rock, Arkansas, the hospital and outpatient clinics will be expanded in 2009 and include centers of excellence for medical research and treatment of cancer, eye, spine, aging and psychiatric conditions. Our research and educational programs inspire new knowledge that results in better diagnosis and more advanced patient care.
Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Since opening the doors in 1989, our Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute has grown to include 15 specialty and seven support clinics, with more than 113,000 patient visits per year. We are Arkansas' only academic cancer center and use a team approach to treatment that addresses the wide range of needs of the patient and his or her family.
Institute On Aging Established through a $28.8 million gift from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, the UAMS Institute on Aging recognizes that by the end of the next decade there will be as many retired Americans as there are children, and that the focus of health care must shift from merely keeping people alive longer to making those later years healthier and more productive.
Arkansas' Child

Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH) is the only pediatric medical center in Arkansas and one of the largest in the United States serving kids from birth to age 21. The ACH pediatric health care facility boasts an internationally renowned reputation for medical breakthroughs and intensive treatments, unique surgical procedures and forward-thinking medical research - all dedicated to fulfilling the ACH mission of enhancing, sustaining and restoring children's health and development.

VA Hospital

The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS), a flagship Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare provider, is one of the largest and busiest VA medical centers in the country. CAVHS offers a broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient healthcare services, ranging from disease prevention through primary care, to complex surgical procedures, to extended rehabilitative care. This System serves as a teaching facility for more than 1,200 students and residents enrolled in approximately 90 educational affiliates. The System is reaching out to veterans through its Community-Based Outpatient Clinics throughout Arkansas and a Drop-In Treatment Center for homeless veterans in downtown Little Rock. Throughout its rich 81 year history, CAVHS has been widely recognized for excellence in education and research, and – first and foremost – for a tradition of quality and caring for Arkansas veterans.
