UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute to Offer Free Prostate Cancer Screening Sept. 19

LITTLE ROCK — The Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will offer free prostate cancer screenings from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 19. The screenings will be held on the sixth floor of the Cancer Institute on the UAMS campus.

 

All men ages 50-75 are eligible for the free screening. African-American men and those with a family history of prostate cancer are eligible beginning at age 40.

 

Men are asked to register by calling (501) 296-1508 from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept.10-18. Free parking is available in the Outpatient Center parking deck on the corner of Cedar Street and Capitol Avenue.

 

According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the second most common type of cancer in men, after skin cancer. It is estimated that more than 186,320 American men will be diagnosed with the disease this year.
