University Rehab

The UAMS Medical Center, through University Rehab, offers a comprehensive evaluation and rehabilitation program for individuals with physical, cognitive, speech, and vision problems. Our highly qualified staff is here to enhance the everyday living for patients who require rehabilitation. No other facility or hospital in the state can offer you a greater variety of rehabilitation services or a more qualified and caring staff.

Hand Therapy

  • A specialized program that treats upper extremity conditions due to trauma, disease, congenital deformities or daily functional activities
  • We employ certified hand therapists and licensed occupational therapists
  • Therapists work closely with the Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery departments

Acute Occupational Therapy

  • Services for inpatients and recuperative care patients include consultation, evaluation and treatment
  • Specialty areas include manual lymphedema massage and low vision rehabilitation
  • Our licensed occupational therapists are certified in Neurodevelopmental Therapy (NDT) and Myofascial Release techniques

Acute Physical Therapy

  • Provides services in an inpatient setting
  • Evaluation and treatment are provided by licensed physical therapists
  • The PT staff have specialized training and experience in unique specialty services, including manual therapy, management of back and neck pain, women's health and balance and dizziness problems
  • The PT staff are certified in Neurodevelopmental Therapy (NDT)

Outpatient Therapy and Fitness

  • Two locations on the UAMS campus
  • Resistance and cardiovascular training
  • Water fitness program

Speech-Language Pathology

  • Full range of diagnostic and treatment services for adults with communication, voice and swallowing difficulties
  • Licensed speech pathologists have extensive specialized training
