NOV. 20, 2001 | Four departments of the College of Health Related Professions at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) have moved to new temporary quarters in the former KARN radio station at I-630 and Cedar Street, across from the UAMS campus. The building is now called “UAMS Education South.”
The Departments of Emergency Medical Sciences, Medical Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, and Radiologic Technology probably will occupy the building for two to three years. The departments were previously in a building on Elm Street on the main campus. |
Faculty and staff of CHRP celebrated the opening of Education Building South. From left: Dennis Mitchell, Gean Richard, Danny Bercher, and Mike Anders.
| |
| ”While our new address is temporary, this move provides important programs in our college with urgently needed space,” Dean Ronald Winters, Ph.D., said.
The departments will have offices, teaching laboratories, and classrooms in the building, although students will still attend some classes and laboratories on the main campus.
Those four CHRP departments and others in the college will move to more suitable space on the main campus as soon as it is available.
Clinical Information Systems, a department of University Hospital, also will occupy some space in the building. The radio tower atop the building is still in use under a lease arrangement.
