Dear Dr. Barlogie,

You might know this, but there exists a worldwide charity box called “tzedakkah,” which in Hebrew means “righteousness.”

Many Jewish organizations, including my Hebrew school called Central Synagogue, pass the tzedakkah box around all the class each week and each student donates as much money as they please (an average amount is one (1) dollar). Since there are approximately 25 students in my 8th and 9th grade Hebrew class, about 25 dollars are put into the box each week.

However, on October 22, 2001, my class conducted a vote on a charity organization they thought was appropriate to donate the tzedakkah to. Many worthwhile organizations were mentioned and eligible for voting. However, I immediately thought of Arkansas Cancer Research Center. After all, after what you and your organization has done for my family, I feel the need to give back all that I can.

So after I explained the amazing new ventures at the Arkansas Cancer Research Center, I won over the voters of an overwhelming majority of the class, and the Arkansas Cancer Research Center.

I hope that you appreciate my need for following in the footsteps of my father in giving to your amazing organization, because after all, if it were not for you, then only God knows the changes which could have occurred and effected the lives of me and my family. Put this money to good use and I urge you to continue the divine hope you are giving to so many people nationwide.

Sincerely,

Evan Sopher
