In vivo multicolor flow cytometry, negative and positive PA contrasts integrated with focused ultrasound has potential for dynamic study of various clots directly in the bloodstream of superficial microvessels associated with different diseases (e.g., cardiovascular disorder, cancer metastasis, or infection) and their treatment (e.g., stents, implants, drugs) which otherwise could not be detected with existing techniques.

Holiday gatherings can do lasting damages to almost everyone’s waistline. Reza Hakkak, Ph.D., chairman of the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition in the College of Health Related Professions and associate professor of the Department of Pediatrics in the College of Medicine, both at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). He will discuss how to maintain good eating habits during the high-calorie end-of-the-year holidays.
He also will discuss the epidemic of childhood obesity and a UAMS program for educating public school teachers about proper nutrition for children. Dr. Hakkak also will explore the apparent link between diet and cancer prevention. | |
