Colorectal Cancer Screening

Home
These segments explore the subject of screening for colorectal cancer.

Colorectal cancer is the third leading cancer killer among men and women older than 50 – but it doesn’t have to be. The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is working to raise awareness about prevention and treatment of this disease.

Roberta Muldoon, M.D., assistant professor of surgery in the UAMS College of Medicine and director of endoscopy at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, will discuss screening techniques, including the colonoscopy and the 3-D virtual colonoscopy, a computer analysis of images taken by a helical CT scanner.

T. Glenn Pait, M.D., a neurosurgeon and the host of Here’s to Your Health, discusses other research on spinal cord injuries at UAMS.
