It is my pleasure to announce the promotion of Susan León to Assistant Dean, Finance. Susan joined the College of Medicine in 1993 as the research/clinical programs manager in the Dean’s office and subsequently was promoted to director of finance for the College of Medicine in 1997. She will continue to report to Olan Nugent, executive associate dean, Finance and Administration, and chief operating officer, Faculty Group Practice.

León received her baccalaureate degree in music from the University of Missouri and her masters of music from Yale University. She became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1992. Her career includes serving as an Entergy financial analyst and a music instructor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR).

León currently serves as an officer of the Group on Business Affairs (GBA), a member of the GBA financial committee, and a member of the SAP Executive Committee.

Susan is the long-term principal bassoonist with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and previously held the same position with the National Symphony of Mexico. She is the founding director of the Pinnacle Players. She has served the community with the League of Women Voters, the Arkansas Council for International Visitors, and is a court-certified interpreter, fluent in Spanish. She is the mother of three children.

Susan is highly qualified and respected, and her stewardship on behalf of the College of Medicine will continue to help us attain our financial goals. She provides leadership for the challenges and the opportunities alike that will continue to move the College of Medicine ahead with confidence.

We are delighted to promote Susan to the post of our newest Assistant Dean based on her experience and her demonstrated commitment to the College of Medicine. Please join me in congratulating Susan on her promotion.
