Doughnut Sale to Help UAMS Psychiatry Youth Program
A special doughnut sale Friday, May 23, will raise money for a program of the Department of Psychiatry in the UAMS College of Medicine that helps at-risk children in North Little Rock schools.
Boxes of Krispy Kreme doughnuts will be available to UAMS employees for $5 in the War Memorial Stadium parking lot. Proceeds will go to the program called Seeking to Reinforce my Identity and Values Everyday (STRIVE).
The sale will be from 6:30-9:30 a.m. The Krispy Kreme Donut Corporation is selling the boxes at cost to the Department of Psychiatry, which hopes to raise approximately $2,700 in the sale.
STRIVE, located in North Little Rock’s Argenta Academy, is an affiliate of the UAMS Child Study Center Community Outreach Program. It provides intensive outpatient therapy for children who have been victims of emotional and behavioral problems and are at risk for out-of-home placement. The goal of the program is to help students who are failing academically and socially develop positive values and self-identity through individual, group, and family therapy and other activities.
