UAMS Researcher Wins Heart Association Award
Kennedy receives Worthen-Cornett Award from American Heart Association.

OCT. 25, 2001 | Richard H. Kennedy, Ph.D., of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has received the Worthen-Cornett Award from the American Heart Association for his research and volunteer efforts to reduce heart disease.

Dr. Kennedy is chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the UAMS College of Pharmacy. He will accept the award at the 2002 Heart Ball in Little Rock on Feb. 9.

The AHA also has given a competitive grant award to Dr. Kennedy for his current research, which involves the relationships of gender and age to heart disease. He is investigating why women’s risk of cardiovascular disease increases after menopause.
