UAMS Pediatrician Wins Prestigious National Award

OCT. 25, 2001 | A pediatrician at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will receive the Women in Medicine Silver Achievement Award from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) next month.

Debra H. Fiser, M.D., professor and chair of the Department of Pediatrics in the UAMS College of Medicine, is one of 21 physicians in the United States who will receive the Silver Achievement Awards. The awards honor physicians who have made substantial contributions to the development of women in academic medicine.

Dr. Fiser was the College of Medicine’s Women Liaison Officer to the AAMC in 1988-1995 and was one of the founders of the college’s Women’s Faculty Development Caucus in 1989.
