DEC. 21, 2000 | Donors to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) now have the option of making gifts online.
UAMS recently added an online donation form to its web site. The online giving service is one of the most comprehensive among charitable organizations in Arkansas. Donors may select from more than 100 funding needs in order to target their gifts to precisely the programs or projects that fit their philanthropic interests. Donors also may make multiple gifts at one time. about each funding need is available on the UAMS web site.
“We are pleased to offer this convenience to our wonderful supporters,” C. Gwin Morris, Ph.D., C.F.R.E., UAMS vice chancellor of the Division of Institutional Advancement, said.
“Online giving is becoming an important factor in development. We realize that charitable institutions must keep pace with information technology in order to serve their donors well.”
Online gifts to UAMS are secure and safe. UAMS has taken every reasonable precaution to protect information about charitable gifts to UAMS. UAMS will only retain records as required by law and for internal bookkeeping. Information about gifts will not be stored on an Internet database. In addition, UAMS and its contractors will not sell or distribute information about donors or their charitable gifts to any other entity. E-mail containing information about contributions is completely encrypted from the time the donor creates it on a personal computer, during delivery, and to reception.
Elizabeth F. Shores, director of development communications for UAMS, oversaw implementation of the online giving service. Epoch Online constructed the donation forms.
Online gifts will go from the online donation forms to an account of the University of Arkansas Foundation at the Bank of America. From there, the gifts will be distributed to the programs and projects at UAMS which donors have designated. Donors will receive acknowledgement of online gifts via e-mail and by postal mail.
UAMS still welcomes cash gifts and pledges by mail. Donors may address gifts to the UAMS Division of Institutional Advancement, 4301 W. Markham St., Slot 716, Little Rock, AR, 72205, or call 501-686-5685 for more information.
