Reynolds Institute on Aging at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has elected new officers, chairs and members of its Community Advisory Board. Newly elected officers are Chairman James E. Darr Jr., an attorney; Vice chair Dale Ronnel, civic leader and former teacher; Secretary Robin Armstrong, director of Volunteer Services at Arkansas Children’s Hospital; and Treasurer Sherman Tate, vice president for External Affairs at ALLTEL. Immediate past chair is Charlotte Gadberry, professional management organization and development consultant. All the officers live in Little Rock. Newly elected board committee chairs are Gadberry, Board Development; Wayne Cranford, chair, and Bruce Wesson, vice-chair, Marketing and Public Relations; Sissy Clinton, Special Projects/Events; Betty Moore, Volunteer; Martha Murphy, Fund Development and Capital Campaign; and John Lessel, Planned Giving. Newly elected members are William E. Clark, Robert G. Cress, Jane Lyon, Marge Scheuck and Harriet Stephens, all of Little Rock. UAMS is the state’s only comprehensive academic health center, with five colleges, a graduate school, a medical center, five centers of excellence and a statewide network of regional centers. UAMS has about 2,200 students and 660 residents and is the state’s largest public employer with almost 9,000 employees. UAMS and its affiliates have an economic impact in Arkansas of $4.1 billion a year. UAMS centers of excellence are the Arkansas Cancer Research Center, Harvey and Bernice Jones Eye Institute, Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging, Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy and Jackson T. Stephens Spine and Neurosciences Institute.
