SEPT. 6, 2001 | A cell biologist with the University of California, San Diego, will lecture at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) at 4-5 p.m., Wed., Sept. 19.
Her lecture will be the first in the Distinguished Cell Biology Lecture Series. The Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology and the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, both in the College of Medicine, are sponsors of the series.
Marilyn G. Farquhar, Ph.D., will speak on “Adventures in Signaling and Trafficking: RGS Proteins and Novel G Protein Signaling Networks,” in the Sam Walton Auditorium in the Arkansas Cancer Research Center on the UAMS campus. All UAMS faculty are invited.
Dr. Farquhar is professor and chair of the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. She is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and has received numerous awards for her research, including the E.B. Wilson Medal from the American Society for Cell Biology and the Homer Smith Award from the American Society of Nephrology. Her major research interests are the mechanisms of signaling and protein targeting during membrane trafficking, and the understanding of the cellular and molecular basis of diseases of the kidney glomerulus.
