Three scientific posters by UAMS researchers, among 1,107 accepted for display at the conference and 2,049 submissions, won awards at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America in Chicago Nov. 25-30.

The posters are displays of findings of research projects. Two posters won Cum Laude recognition: “Fetal Epignathus: Prenatal Diagnosis and Postnatal Pathologic Correlation” and “A Comprehensive Review of Intracranial Chordomas.” A third poster, “”Prenatal Diagnosis of Congenital Cardiac Anomalies: A Practical Approach Using Two Basic Views,” won an Award of Merit.

The winning researchers were: Russell L. Roberts, Jr., M.D., Teresa G. Berg, M.D., Lana G. Glenn, R.D.M., and Teresita L. Angtuaco, M.D., for “Fetal Epignathus: Prenatal Diagnosis and Postnatal Pathologic Correlation”; Eren Erdem, M.D., Edgardo J.C. Angtuaco, M.D., Muhammad Husain, M.D., and Ossama Al-Mefty, M.D., for “A Comprehensive Review of Intracranial Chordomas”; and Jodi M. Barboza, M.D., Renee A. Bornemeier, M.D., Nafisa K. Dajani, M.D., Lana G. Glenn, R.D.M.S., and Teresita L. Angtuaco, M.D., for “Prenatal Diagnosis of Congenital Cardiac Anomalies: A Practical Approach Using Two Basic Views.”

Dr. Teresita Angtuaco praised graphic designer Patricia O’Neil of UAMS Media Services for design and production of the posters. The posters “would not have been noticed if the design was not good. In a crowd of 1107 posters from all over the world, it is easy to get ignored,” she said.
