Free vascular disease screenings will be offered on Saturday, May 8, in the UAMS Vascular Lab. PVD is most commonly characterized by leg or hip pain that occurs during walking or exercising, but disappears after a few minutes of rest. PVD serves as a warning sign of potential heart attack, stroke or abdominal aortic aneurysm. Early detection of PVD through screening enables physicians to treat the disease before such serious problems develop.

Erin Beth Davis Hays returned to Batesville and White River Medical Center to become the first clinical pharmacy resident at the hospital. The residency program, only the fifth in Arkansas, is a joint effort between WRMC, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Pharmacy and the North Central Arkansas Area Health Education Center.

SPECIAL PUBLIC SEMINAR Saturday, May 1, 2004 10 a.m. - Noon G225, College of Public Health University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
To continue our education mission, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is pleased to host a two hour minimally invasive seminar on our campus, from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, May 1, 2004. There is no charge to attend the seminar, but space is limited.

At this seminar you'll learn about: - minimally invasive hip, knee, elbow and shoulder surgery -how arthritis affects the joints - surgery and results - one day knee surgery - new procedures - new medications - hospitalization - post-operative rehabilitations - exercise and fitness - weight reduction and fitness - new mechanical devices - using a cane or walker
The seminar will be held in room G225 in the UAMS College of Public Health. Free parking is provided in the Medical Center parking deck across Campus Drive from the College of Public Health building.
