Memorial Service for Helen May To Be Held at Walton Auditorium
Friends and colleagues of the late Helen Morley May will gather for a service in her memory on Tuesday, December 18, 2001.

DEC. 6, 2001 | Friends and colleagues of the late Helen Morley May, an instructional development specialist at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), will gather for a service in her memory 11:30 – 12:30 p.m., Tues., Dec. 18.

The service will be in Sam Walton Auditorium on the 10th floor of the Arkansas Cancer Research Center on the UAMS campus.

May died Nov. 21.  As the author of her obituary noted, “Helen will be remembered for her gifts of empathy and compassion and the impact she made on the lives of staff, patients and programs at UAMS.

”As her legacy to staff education, she created [the] UAMS Building Bridges program, which emphasizes the importance of teamwork and communication in the health-care setting. She also served as chairperson of UAMS Hospital Week and was the former director of the UAMS patient liaison program. Helen’s listening skills and ability to deal with conflict created a happier, healthier and more patient-friendly workplace.”

She is survived by her husband, Jim May, director of treasury operations at UAMS.
