NOV. 1, 2001 | The Little Rock chapter of Altrusa International and the Junior League of Little Rock recently made gifts to a residential treatment program for families struggling with drug addiction.

Altrusa International donated books and magazines to the Arkansas Center for Addictions Research, Education and Services (Arkansas CARES) while the Junior League of Little Rock donated “birthday kits” containing cake mixes, birthday candles, and disposable cameras.

Arkansas CARES provides a home and a variety of treatment services for women who are pregnant or have young children and who are struggling with drug addiction. It is a program of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the College of Medicine of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

The groups made the gifts in connection with “Make a Difference Day,” an observance of USA Weekend Magazine and the Points of Light Foundation.
