PVD is most commonly characterized by leg or hip pain that occurs during walking or exercising, but disappears after a few minutes of rest. PVD serves as a warning sign of potential heart attack, stroke or abdominal aortic aneurysm. Early detection of PVD through screening enables physicians to treat the disease before such serious problems develop. Auction, Great Food, and Viewing of the 130th Running of the Kentucky Derby Horses and hats will be the theme when the UAMS Consortium throws a “Julep Cup Jaunt” on Derby Day, to raise funds for the UAMS Family Home. The live broadcast of the Kentucky Derby will be the highlight of the party unless the informal competition for best Derby Day hat steals the show. Attire will be casual but, in Kentucky Derby tradition, hats will be de rigueur. The UAMS Family Home and Arkansas Cancer Research Center Auxiliary Cancer Support Center across from UAMS in Little Rock provides low-cost overnight lodging for families of cancer patients and infants in the UAMS Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
