FEB. 20, 2004 | The International Myeloma Foundation will honor Dr. Bart Barlogie, director of the Myeloma Institute for Research Therapy at UAMS’ Arkansas Cancer Research Center, at a ceremony in May.

Barlogie, a professor of medicine and pathology in the UAMS College of Medicine, will receive the 2004 Robert A. Kyle Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his 20-year career in the treatment of multiple myeloma.

The IMF will present the award to Barlogie May 8 at a ceremony held at the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock. The award recognizes his work to significantly improve care, treatment and prognosis for myeloma patients.

The foundation’s Robert A. Kyle Lifetime Achievement Award was established to honor an individual whose lifetime body of work furthers the ultimate goal of finding a cure for myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow. The accolade is named after Dr. Robert A. Kyle, a physician and founder of the Myeloma and Related Diseases Research Group at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
