History of Medicine Associates Hear Paper on College of Medicine
The History of Medicine Associates at UAMS met September 20, 2001, for a presentation of a paper by Jonathan J. Wolfe, Ph.D., on: “Progressivism Comes to Arkansas Medicine: Governor George Donaghey and Dr. Morgan Smith.”

OCT. 4, 2001 | The History of Medicine Associates, an organization affiliated with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Library, met Sept. 20 to enjoy an excellent meal, hear a paper, and elect officers. 

Jonathan Wolfe, Ph.D., associate dean of the UAMS College of Pharmacy, delivered a paper, “Progressivism Comes to Arkansas Medicine: Governor George Donaghey and Dr. Morgan Smith.” (See related article on Dr. Wolfe’s role as guest curator of a new exhibit at the Old State House museum here.)

Dr. Wolfe also presided over the meeting as outgoing president of the associates. The associates elected the following board members: Max Baker, M.D., president; Bernard Thompson, M.D., vice president; Steven Strode, M.D., secretary; Bill Gurley, Ph.D., Chris Hackler, Ph.D., Janet Honeycutt, and W. Ray Jouett, M.D., to three-year terms; and Elizabeth F. Shores to complete the term of C. Gwin Morris, Ph.D., who resigned from the board upon moving to Texas.
