Diana Lynn Woods, Ph.D., is the first John A. Hartford Foundation scholar to join the College of Nursing at UAMS. As the first post-doctoral scholar in the college, she will conduct research funded by the foundation, which recently established a Geriatric Center for Nursing Excellence (GCNE) at UAMS with funds from an earlier grant.

The programs will explore plans for the UAMS Guesthouse and ACRC Auxiliary Cancer Support Center across Markham Street from the UAMS campus in Little Rock. Groundbreaking for the facility was July 18.
Family members of patients at Arkansas Cancer Research Center (ACRC) at UAMS and parents of premature babies who are referred by physicians will be able to stay at the guest house. Recovering cancer patients also can use the facility. A nonprofit organization, Parents and Friends of Children and Adults, is raising funds for the project.
