Diana Lynn Woods, Ph.D., is the first John A. Hartford Foundation scholar to join the College of Nursing at UAMS. As the first post-doctoral scholar in the college, she will conduct research funded by the foundation, which recently established a Geriatric Center for Nursing Excellence (GCNE) at UAMS with funds from an earlier grant.

Erin Beth Davis Hays returned to Batesville and White River Medical Center to become the first clinical pharmacy resident at the hospital. The residency program, only the fifth in Arkansas, is a joint effort between WRMC, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Pharmacy and the North Central Arkansas Area Health Education Center.

The college’s first tournament featured 18 teams and raised more than $15,000 for endowed student scholarships.

| The college’s Tournament Committee hopes to build on the success of the first golf tournament and increase participation enough to offer morning and afternoon tee times. Increased participation and sponsorships will translate into more money for student scholarships.
Participants will be treated to lunch at the golf course, and prizes will be awarded for the top 3 places. There also will be prizes for longest drive, closest to the hole, and hole-in-one.
The Tournament Committee is seeking sponsors and teams for the 2002 tournament. Sponsorship opportunities include:

--Recognition in all pre-tournament publicity, including letters, media spots, and flyers

--$1,000 contribution

--Single entries will be combined with other single entries to comprise a complete team.
