OCT. 25, 2001 | The director of the Arkansas Cancer Research Center (ACRC) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will speak at the second statewide summit on cancer control on Mon., Nov. 5.

James Suen, M.D., will speak at a luncheon at the summit. He is a specialist in cancers of the head and neck. One of the founders of the ACRC, he became director in August. He also is chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery in the UAMS College of Medicine.

Participants will review the Arkansas Cancer Plan, a comprehensive plan for cancer control in the state.

The conference will be at Riverfront Hilton Inn in North Little Rock. Registration is available for the all-day summit, including breakfast, luncheon, and reception ($75) or for the luncheon alone ($20). Call the Arkansas Department of Health at 501-661-2967 for a registration form.

UAMS, ACRC, the American Cancer Society, the Arkansas Department of Health, the Arkansas affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are cosponsors of the conference.
