Many children and their mothers come to Arkansas CARES with nothing more than they can carry in a paper sack. Tribute gifts to Arkansas CARES will help build a playground and buy other play equipment for the program.

Arkansas CARES, the residential treatment program for mothers recovering from drug addiction, and their children, is accepting holiday tribute gifts to help pay for a playground and other play equipment.

Arkansas CARES is a program of the Department of Psychiatry in the UAMS College of Medicine.

For each gift of $10 or more, Arkansas CARES will send a holiday greeting card with the message that the donor “has made a gift in your honor to Arkansas CARES.”

Gwen Efird, president of the board of directors of the Arkansas CARES Foundation, said, “This year, you can give to your loved ones and to the children at Arkansas CARES. As their mothers struggle to break free of alcohol and drug addiction, you can insure that they have a safe and happy place to learn, play and live. Your tribute gifts can start holiday traditions for these families as the cycle of addiction, abuse, and chaos is broken.”

You may make tribute gifts to Arkansas CARES online. Type “Arkansas CARES holiday tribute” in the blank for “Other” on the donation form you choose. (You will need to complete a separate online form for each tribute gift.) You may use a credit card to make this gift or print the online donation form and mail with a check to:
