As UAMS continues to grow, it is increasingly important to address how employees get to and around campus, including finding alternatives to the traditional commute by single-occupancy vehicles.

By sharing rides to work, you save money on fuel and car maintenance. Car pooling also helps reduce air pollution, traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions. When not behind the wheel you can read or chat during your commute, helping to reduce stress. So sit back and enjoy your commute with new friends.

What is GreenRide?

UAMS Transportation and Parking Services offers a free online matching service called GreenRide that promotes the use of alternative transportation within the UAMS community. GreenRide helps you locate others interested in car pooling who have similar interests and who live in the same area. It’s fast, friendly and offers anonymity until you decide to make the actual arrangements. You can use your UAMS e-mail, but for even more privacy, simply utilize an e-mail service such as Yahoo or Hotmail. You’ll even get to see a map of the general area showing potential car poolers near you. 

If you or a member of your car pool has paid parking in the north deck, east deck or surface lots No. 1 or No. 6, you will park in a designated car pool area in your deck or lot. A car pool parking decal must be displayed on every car pool vehicle in a paid lot or deck.

GreenRide car poolers who have paid parking on the north deck, east deck or surface lots No. 1 or No. 6 may drive alone and park in a nearby designated lot up to 12 times each year by purchasing hangtags for the rearview mirror at $2.50 each. Those designated lots are No.7E and No. 9. For a map of the campus parking areas, go here

UAMS also will divide the campus parking fee among car poolers so that it’s deducted from each person’s pay check.
