AUG. 28, 2003 | The
College of Medicine of the
University of Arkansas for Medical
Sciences (UAMS) will present the Second
Annual Dean’s Continuing Medical Education
(CME) Conference and Dinner Friday,
Sept. 12, at the Peabody Hotel in Little
Rock.
The event will be open to all Arkansas
physicians and will consist of 10
presentations by faculty members, followed
by cocktails and dinner honoring UAMS
associate staff and recognizing new
chairman Michael J. Edwards, M.D.
(Department of Surgery), and new
chairwomen Helen H. Kay, M.D. (Department
of Obstetrics and Gynecology), and
Carmelita S. Pablo, M.D. (Department of
Anesthesiology). (See agenda below.)
The Dean’s CME Conference
has been approved for seven hours of
Category I credit toward the American
Medical Association Physician’s
Recognition Award. The registration fee is
$100 per person. This fee includes
educational materials, access to special
exhibits, continental breakfast, lunch,
cocktails and dinner. To obtain a

“We have assembled several
of UAMS’ distinguished clinicians and
researchers to make presentations on a
variety of issues impacting the medical
community,” said Charles W. Smith, M.D.,
the executive associate dean for clinical
affairs at UAMS and the medical director
of UAMS Medical Center. “By updating their
existing medical knowledge, as well as
providing them with new information, we
strive to help physicians better
understand, recognize and treat some of
the common medical conditions that they
encounter in their practices.”

Graham F. Greene, M.D.
Dr. Greene is an associate professor in
the Department of Urology in the UAMS

He is also affiliated with the Central
Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System and
Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Henderson is a
professor and vice chairman and the
director of the Division of Cognitive
Disorders and Neurogerontology in the
Donald W. Reynolds Department of

co-director of the UAMS Alzheimer’s
Disease
Center,
a professor in the Department of Neurology
and the Department of Pharmacology and
Toxicology in the UAMS College of
Medicine, and a professor in the
Department of Epidemiology in the UAMS
College of Public Health.

Dr. Bradsher is the Richard V. Ebert
Professor of Medicine at UAMS. Within the

Division of Infectious Diseases.
