JULY 21, 2003 | Meredith Lightfoot, M.D., a graduating resident in urology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), has received the Pfizer Scholars in Urology Award.
Pfizer Inc donated $1,000 in Lightfoot’s honor to the Urology Department in the UAMS College of Medicine for its Resident Scholarship Fund. The pharmaceutical company also presented a plaque to Lightfoot recognizing her “leadership, innovation, and outstanding achievement in urological science.” Lightfoot was one of about 100 recipients selected for this year’s awards to urology departments in medical schools around the United States.

Alex Finkbeiner, M.D., chairman of the urology department at UAMS, commented that Lightfoot  “is superb, not only as a physician, but in a leadership role, in rallying the troops. We just completed faculty evaluations, and our toughest marker said this is the finest resident he has had since he’s been here.”

Lightfoot, a native of Dallas, has accepted a position at Urological Clinics of North Texas at Presbyterian Hospital in her hometown.
