News from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
|
JULY 18, 2003 | For the
third time in five years,
UAMS Medical Center
at the University of Arkansas for
Medical Sciences has been named one of the
nation’s “100 Most Wired” hospitals and
health care systems by
Hospitals & Health Networks,
the magazine of the American Hospital
Association.
UAMS
Medical
Center is the only hospital in Arkansas to
receive the designation. This prestigious
award is based on the Most Wired Survey
and Benchmarking Study, which polled the
nation’s hospitals on their use of
information technology to address the key
goals of safety and quality; customer
service; business processes; work force;
and disaster readiness.
"As we move closer to a
paperless environment, our system
availability requirements have become more
critical and disaster recovery has become
a priority for our organization," said
Kari Cassel, the chief information officer
at UAMS Medical
Center. "We are in the process of rewriting our disaster
recovery and business continuity
plan, establishing a second
data center, moving all of our critical
data to mirrored storage area networks and
duplicating our infrastructure where
necessary." |

Hospitals & Health Networks
teamed with McKesson Information Solutions
and the Healthcare Information and
Management Systems Society to conduct the
survey. More than 400 hospitals and health
systems – representing 1,128 hospitals –
responded to the survey.
