University Rehab Fitness
Program at UAMS Medical Center now offers
Tai Chi from the Arthritis Foundation – a
joint-safe exercise program designed for
people of all ages, especially those with
mild to moderate arthritis.
Classes are offered Mon.
and Wed., 11 - 11:45 a.m., in the Jackson
T. Stephens Spine and Neurosciences
Institute at the University of Arkansas
for Medical Sciences (UAMS), and Tues. and
Thurs., 3:30 - 4:15 p.m., in the
Ottenheimer Fitness Center in the Donald
W. Reynolds Center on Aging at UAMS. The
monthly cost for the classes is $45 per

The ancient Chinese discipline of tai chi employs slow, gentle,
concentrated movements for physical and mental well-being. The
benefits of this form of exercise include reduced pain and
stiffness; improved muscle strength and stamina; improved
concentration and memory; improved ability to cope with stress
and depression; improved posture and body awareness; and
increased circulation and heart and lung function.
