Here’s to Your Health: Genetic Research on Multiple Myeloma

FEB. 20, 2003 | Genetic research on the rare cancer multiple myeloma will be the topic on "Here’s to Your Health" on radio Feb. 24-28, 2003.

Cancer genetics researcher John Shaughnessy, Jr., Ph.D., leads a team of investigators in the Donna D. and Donald M. Lambert Laboratory of Myeloma Genetics at the Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy at UAMS. Using microarray technology, they are decoding the genetic profile of each type of myeloma cell, making it possible to design personalized therapies for cancer patients.

Kirsten Gary, the 11-year-old daughter of a myeloma patient who sold enough handmade lapel pins to donate $12,000 to the institute, also will appear on the program.
