UAMS/ACRC Team in Race for the Cure® Aims for 1,000 Members!

AUG. 20, 2002 | The goal is 1,000 walkers and runners streaming through Little Rock on behalf of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and its Arkansas Cancer Research Center (ACRC) in the Oct. 5 Race for the Cure®.

"It's a tremendously moving experience and a great way to show your support for cancer research and education," Harold Dean, co-captain of the UAMS/ACRC team, said recently.

"Sign up and join us Oct. 5 - it will be a feather in your cap!", Co-captain Cheri Goforth added.

important supporter of breast cancer research and patient care at UAMS and ACRC. Among other contributions, the foundation contributed $381,000 to the cancer center for mammography services.

In past years, as many as 900 volunteers from UAMS and ACRC have participated.

The deadline to join the UAMS/ACRC team is Aug. 28. All employees and friends of UAMS and ACRC, women and men, of all ages, are welcome. The $15 registration fee covers the official Race for the Cure
® t-shirt and the UAMS/ACRC t-shirt, as well as other items. Packets for team members will be available at the Hospital Volunteer Office Oct. 3-4.

Julie Cavenaugh submitted the winning team slogan, "Curing cancer is a feather in our cap." This year's slogan will appear on the official UAMS/ACRC team t-shirt.

To register, download the registration form and mail with a check, payable to Race for the Cure, to UAMS/ACRC Team, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, 4301 W. Markham St., Slot 527, Little Rock, AR, 72205.
