Herbal Supplements Topic of Old State House Lecture

MAY 2, 2002 | A pharmaceutical scientist at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will discuss the risks of herbal supplements at a special lecture at the Old State House Museum Tues., May 14.

Bill Gurley,
Ph.D., an associate professor of pharmaceutical sciences in the UAMS College of Pharmacy, will speak at 7 p.m. His lecture is in conjunction with the museum’s current exhibit, “Medical Education at the Old State House; From Flexner to New Deal.”

Dr. Gurley will discuss the potential risks of combining herbal supplements with conventional medications. He has been studying the effects of dietary supplements for six years.

A reception will follow his lecture. All UAMS faculty, staff, and students will be welcome. The museum is at 300 Markham St. in downtown Little Rock.
