Myeloma Survivors Gather at UAMS Luncheon

MARCH 21, 2002 | Former patients with multiple myeloma came “home” to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) last week to celebrate their survival.

Twenty-nine survivors of the rare form of cancer and 36 other guests attended a luncheon given by the Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy March 14. Patients spoke positively about their experiences as patients at UAMS.

Institute Director Bart Barlogie, M.D., Ph.D., spoke at the luncheon and staff gave the survivors gifts including caps, lapel pins and pens with the institute logo.

The institute also sponsored seminars March 14 for patients and their families and for physicians and other health are providers.

Yevette Bonnevaux and John Tungate enjoyed a recent luncheon for survivors of multiple myeloma.
