21, 2002 | Former patients with multiple myeloma came
“home” to the University of Arkansas for Medical
Sciences (UAMS) last week to celebrate their survival.
Twenty-nine survivors of the rare form of cancer and
36 other guests attended a luncheon given by the Myeloma
Institute for Research and Therapy March 14.
Patients spoke positively about their experiences as
patients at UAMS.
Institute Director Bart Barlogie, M.D., Ph.D., spoke
at the luncheon and staff gave the survivors gifts
including caps, lapel pins and pens with the institute
logo.
The institute also sponsored seminars March 14 for
patients and their families and for physicians and
other health are providers.

Yevette
Bonnevaux and John Tungate enjoyed a recent luncheon for
survivors of multiple myeloma.

Donna
Lambert of St. Louis attended the reception. Mrs. Lambert
and her husband, Donald Lambert, earlier established the
Lambert Laboratory for Myeloma Genetics at the Myeloma
Institute at UAMS.
