The
goal of the project is to improve the quality of breast cancer
care by training surgeons to coordinate with teams of cancer
specialists. The surgery fellows accepted by the program will
work with other surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, radiation
oncologists, and cancer specialists to ensure breast cancer
patients the best possible care. This approach to treatment
brings physicians working in several disciplines together as
they coordinate treatment efforts throughout the treatment
process.
This
multidisciplinary approach is part of the ACRC’s commitment to
providing our patients with progressive cancer treatment that is
personal and highly effective. Dr. Klimberg’s grant will
emphasize the understanding of patients with benign and
malignant breast diseases and develop a better treatment
environment for patients.
