University Hospital One of
"100 Most Wired" in Nation
AUG. 16, 2001 | For the second year in a row, University Hospital at the
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has been named one of the nations 100
"most wired" hospitals and health care systems by Hospitals
and Health Networks, the magazine of the American Hospital Association.
This prestigious award is based on an annual survey, developed in conjunction with
Deloitte Consulting and McKesson HBOC, which polled the nations health care systems
on their use of Internet technologies to connect with patients, physicians and nurses,
payers, health plans and employees.
"We are pleased to have the efforts of University Hospital recognized among the
nations leaders in the field of health care information technology. We are
especially pleased that the magazine has, for the first time, taken the analysis one step
further and looked at the benefits better information brings to our patients, physicians
and community," Kari L. Cassel, chief information officer for University Hospital,
said.
The magazine reported that "along with higher credit ratings, the Most Wired have
greater expense control and more productivity."
More than 280 hospitals and health systems responded to the survey, representing 1,177
hospitals.
