Obstetrician Offers Advice on Predicting Preterm
Labor
JUNE 7, 2001 | An
obstetrician with the University of Arkansas for
Medical Sciences (UAMS) will explain a new test
that can predict preterm labor in a
teleconference for doctors around the state
Thurs., June 14.
The program will be open to physicians and other
health care providers.
Curtis L. Lowery, M.D., an associate professor in
the Department of Obstetrics
and Gynecology in the UAMS College of
Medicine, will explain the fetal fibronectin
(fFN) test, a new procedure that helps doctors
identify pregnant women who are likely to go into
premature labor. Dr. Lowery is director of the
Division of Maternal and Fetal Medicine at UAMS
Medical Center.
The fFN test is rapidly becoming the standard
procedure for assessing the risk of preterm
labor.
The presentation will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in
Room G225 of Education Building III on the UAMS campus.
Contact Brenda Campbell (501-686-5847) to register
to attend at the UAMS site.
The presentation also will be broadcast via
interactive compressed video to many sites in
Arkansas. See the list of sites for more
information.
The UAMS Office of Continuing Medical Education and United Healthcare are sponsors of the
conference.
