Dermatologist, Banker Draw 100 to Final
Spring Women's Forum

MAY 17, 2001 | A UAMS dermatologist and a banker with Arvest Asset Management drew a capacity crowd to the last program in the spring series of the UAMS-Arvest Women's Forum.

Approximately 100 women asked so many questions of each speaker that moderator Denise Whitaker of KARK-TV finally had to end the questions.

Kelly Brown, vice president of Arvest Central Bank, thanked the audience for their interest and promised another series of fascinating Women's Forum programs in the fall.

Sandra Marchese Johnson, M.D., spoke on “Skin Care: Now and in the Future”, recommending basic care and medical treatments for a variety of skin conditions. Dr. Johnson is an assistant professor in the Department of Dermatology in the UAMS College of Medicine. She can be reached at the UAMS
General Dermatology Clinic (501-686-5960).

In “Trust Benefits as We Mature,” Betty Dalrymple, a senior vice president of Arvest Asset Management, explained various estate planning techniques, emphasizing ways for mature women to retain control of their assets and reduce estate taxes.

Dalrymple suggested that charitable gifts can increase income and further reduce estate taxes. The UAMS
Office of Planned Giving (501-686-5685) can assist individuals, couples, and families in careful estate planning. UAMS professional advisors can suggest types of planned gifts for different financial needs and make referrals to accountants and lawyers.

Arvest Central Bank of Little Rock co-sponsored the UAMS-Arvest Women's Forum. UAMS invites other corporate partners to participate in innovative programs for health care, health education, and research. Contact the UAMS Office of Corporate Relations (501-686-5685) for more information.

The UAMS
Women's Health Care Initiative coordinated the Forum programs. To subscribe to an e-mail newsletter of women's health news from UAMS, send an e-mail message to with “subscribe women's news” in the subject line.
