Graduate School.
”The growth in research at UAMS has been very
impressive during the last 18 years. The possible
development of new graduate programs, as well as the
recruitment of Dean E. Albert Reece, M.D., Ph.D.,
M.B.A., in the College of Medicine, make this an
exciting time for the Graduate School,” Dean Kennedy
said. “I am certain that the campus will continue to
develop under the leadership of Chancellor Wilson and
the deans of our five colleges. I hope to work

Dean Kennedy praised Michael L.
Jennings, Ph.D., chairman of the Department of Physiology
and Biophysics in the College of Medicine, who has served as
interim dean of the Graduate School since the retirement of
Barry D. Lindley, Ph.D., former dean and vice chancellor for
academic affairs, in September 1999.
”The Graduate School and the campus are sincerely grateful to
Dr. Jennings for his service as interim dean. He served in this
capacity for approximately two years, providing the leadership
to move the graduate programs forward. I am quite impressed by
his ability to serve effectively as dean while continuing to
develop a productive basic science department,” Dean Kennedy
said.
”Dr. Kennedy has been active in graduate education on this
campus for longer than 20 years, first as a faculty member of
the College of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology and
Toxicology, and then in the College of Pharmacy, Department of
Pharmaceutical Sciences,” Chancellor Wilson observed. “I am
pleased that he has accepted this position.”
Dean Kennedy will continue serve as a professor and chairman in
