The UAMS Teaching with Technology Committee announces its inaugural Educational Technology Excellence Award. The award was developed to recognize individuals for their outstanding teaching, support and leadership contributions to the University involving educational technology, distance or online educational efforts. Nominations and applications must be received by Monday, April 25, 2011 .
Eligibility Criteria
The nominee will be a full-time employee of UAMS.
The nominee will demonstrate excellence in contributions made during employment at UAMS, in one or more of the five criteria stated below. Nominees will be judged according to their cumulative contributions across the five categories.
Faculty and staff may nominate themselves, or may be nominated by any other full-time UAMS employee.
Evaluation Criteria
Teaching - This criteria is focused primarily at those engaged in classroom instruction.
Excellence in integrating technology(ies) into the delivery of: course content/structure, delivery of instruction, course management strategies, enhanced experiential learning, or other elements of the learning process that result in improved student learning outcomes.
Service/Support/Leadership - This criteria is focused primarily at faculty, administrators and staff whose primary contribution to educational technology(ies) is outside of the classroom.
Outstanding contribution to successful improvements in the campus’ education technology(ies), through one or more the following: acquisition (grant-writing), planning/organization, development, enhancements, implementation, post-implementation development, student / user training, or program/system evaluation.
Innovation
Effective approaches, strategies and solutions that are novel to UAMS, to the delivery of educational technology, whether individual elements of systems or aspects of the larger organizational framework; especially those that reflect uniqueness of educational programs, or of UAMS as an educational institution.
Impact
Contributions to the design or development of specific educational technologies or the larger technological infrastructure that yielded significant and measurable impact, in terms of the number of people affected, improved performance levels (efficiencies, effectiveness), or setting new standards of performance.
Letters of Support
Letters of support are encouraged to be submitted as part of the supporting documentation. If included, these letters would preferably reflect a “360 degree evaluation” with letters from one of several categories of supporter: students, graduates, alumni, clients, peers, colleagues, supervisors and administrators.
Nominations & Applications
All applications/nominations must be submitted to the UAMS Teaching with Technology Committee’s Awards Subcommittee by the second Monday of each year. For 2011, the application deadline is 5:00 p.m. April 25, 2011. Applications and nominations must include a single electronic file (*.pdf formatted) containing (in order):

For consideration, all applications/nominations should be submitted via e-mail to Tom Rimmer, chairman, Teaching with Technology Awards Committee by 5:00PM on April 25, 2011. Awards will be announced at the UAMS Teaching with Technology Symposium July 21, 2011.
