Teaching with Technology
Annual Symposium
Hosted by UAMS
For Educators, By Educators
The Teaching with Technology Annual Symposium began in 2006 and was met with open arms by our participants. Our main focus at the symposium is to enlighten educators on the various ways to incorporate technology in educational practices. We have enjoyed meeting educators from around the state as well as from Missouri and Texas. Anyone associated with education in any capacity is welcome to attend. Although we do tend to focus on distance learning in higher education, K - 12 teachers have found our sessions useful as well.
Our last symposium, held July 24 - 25, 2008, was another successful gathering. We welcomed a group of about 125 made of educators from both higher education and K - 12. We also had a great turn out with the exhibitors from various companies.
The theme was Extreme Makeover: Course Edition. Thursday's symposium consisted of a morning filled with ideas for making online courses better with the afternoon broken into one-hour overviews of technologies available to enhance your courses. Friday was set aside for hands-on training workshops for a closer look at the technologies discussed at Thursday's symposium.
Topics included: The Brain and Learning, Elements of Effective Design for Learning, and Tools to Produce Learner-Centered Content.
