“Developing
the Professional Educator: Leadership Responsibilities”
Dr.
O’Sullivan will discuss the roles of a competent professional educator and
the activities associated with those roles: teaching, curriculum
development, assessment, advising and mentoring, administration, and
scholarship. She will also shed some light on the responsibilities of campus
leaders in stimulating, measuring, and rewarding these activities.

Dr. O’Sullivan is
Associate Director for Educational Research in the Office of Medical
Education at the University of California, San Francisco. At UCSF she
co-directs the Teaching Scholars Program and oversees the Medical Education
Research Fellowship. She has over 25 years of experience in medical and
health professions education. Dr. O’Sullivan serves on the Accreditation
Council for Graduate Medical Education Portfolio Advisory Committee, as the
past chair of the Research in Medical Education Program Planning Committee,
and as vice-president of the Division for Professions Education of the
American Educational Research Association.
