Dr. McGaghie's Lecture
Dr. McGaghie will summarize the best evidence about the
features and use of simulation-based health science education based on a
systematic literature review covering 34 years and nearly 700 journal
articles and a cumulative education and research program now underway at
Northwestern University. He will also address the need for structured
research designs, rigorous outcome measures, and faculty preparation to
teach using simulators.

Dr. McGaghie is professor of medical education and
preventive medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of
Medicine. He has published extensively in health professions education,
preventive medicine, and related fields. He serves on the editorial boards
of several prestigious health professions education journals; the Research
Advisory Committee for Academic Medicine; and reviews manuscripts for
Annals of Internal Medicine, JAMA, the New England Journal of
Medicine, and The American Statistician. He has served on NIH and
AHRQ Study Sections, as a grant application referee for the NBME Stemmler
Fund and the Spencer Foundation, and as a consultant to the NBME, the ABIM
Foundation, the American Physical Therapy Association, and to universities
and medical schools worldwide.
