Ruth Marie Fincher, M.D.

Dr. Fincher is a Professor of Medicine and Vice Dean for
Academic Affairs at the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine. After earning her
M.D. degree and completing residency training in Internal Medicine at Emory University
School of Medicine, she practiced medicine for five years before joining the faculty at
the Medical College of Georgia in 1984. Dr. Fincher has published extensively in the
medical education literature and has been recognized as an outstanding educator as
evidenced by receipt of the Medical College of Georgia's "Medical Educator of the
Year Award" for eight sequential years. She has had an outstanding career nationally
having been active in 3 national organizations, The Clerkship Directors in Internal
Medicine, National Board of Medical Examiners, and the AAMC Research in Medical Education
Committee and Group on Educational Affairs.
