The Teaching Scholars program is a 1-year faculty development program sponsored by the UAMS Office of Educational Development designed to enhance the teaching and scholarship skills of educators.
The Program began in 1996 as a joint project of Educational Development and the

The Teaching Scholars program is designed for faculty members at UAMS, from all five colleges, who wish to learn more about educational principles, teaching, learning and educational scholarship.
Program goals and objectives
Teaching Scholars is designed to enrich the educational programs of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences by improving the teaching and educational research skills of faculty and by providing an avenue for increased faculty interaction and professional growth. The objectives are to:

- Produce a group of teaching scholars who will mentor and educate other faculty in the methods of educational excellence, seek funding for educational research, and disseminate their scholarly work on education through presentations and publications.
Instructional/teaching format and methods
The format includes twice monthly workshops on topics related to teaching and educational research given by both local and nationally known health professions educators; and completion of a scholarly educational project.
