Carol A. Aschenbrener, MD

Change Management - Leadership for Change
Dr. Aschenbrener will focus on change for medical
educators.
Learning Objectives:

Increase understanding of change as a transition process

Increase awareness of patterns of response to change

Identify effective tactics for engaging the feelings that
stimulate behaviors commonly labeled as "resistance"
-
Learn a tool for assessing readiness for organizational
change
Dr. Carol Aschenbrener is a consultant to academic health
centers, foundations, and professional associations. Her work emphasizes both strategy and
the development of people to execute strategy. A neuropathologist with a passion for
teaching and management, Dr. Aschenbrener spent nine years in various Deans Office
positions at the University of Iowa College of Medicine and four years as Chancellor of
the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Chair of the governing board of the National
Board of Medical Examiners, she is also a Clinical Professor of pathology at George
Washington University Medical School.
