How to Apply

1.    Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as possible. It is available for completion on January 1st of each year for the next academic year.  We recommend you do this electronically at www.fafsa.ed.gov

2.    When you receive your Student Aid Report (SAR) back from the Central Processor, read it carefully and follow the instructions on the first page. If you need to make corrections, bring your SAR to our office so we can electronically make corrections for you; it will save time.

3.   Complete the Student Data Form.   If you are selected for the review process called “verification,” make sure you return all required materials to our office with correct signatures.

4.    After the above steps are completed, you will receive an award letter from the UAMS Financial Aid Office.

This process must be repeated for each academic year that financial aid is needed.

Applicants for the Bachelor of Nursing Science program need to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1st whether or not they have been accepted to the program.  Completing the FAFSA early will enable students to process financial aid in time to start classes at the end of May.  To have financial aid processed for the beginning of the summer 2008 term, applicants will need to complete the 2008-09 FAFSA.
