The department of radiology at the University of Arkansas for medical sciences
provides image interpretation services to several outpatient clinics in the state.
Specialties such as neuroradiology, interventional radiology, musculoskeletal
radiology, ultrasound, and body imaging are involved in image interpretation on a
daily basis.
The radiologists providing these services are subspecialized. The
neuroradiologists and interventional radiologists have certificates of advanced
qualification. Several radiologists are board examiners for the American Board of
Radiology and are highly respected nationwide in their respective specialties.
On an average, 40 total examinations are done on a daily basis. These include a
number of MRIs which include brain and spine imaging. MR angiography is also done
on a daily basis at some of these institutions.
Average number of exams performed each day:
21 neuroradiology MRIs and CT scans
2 body MRIs and CT scans
13 musculoskeletal MRIs
4 ultrasounds
These centers are located in the city of Little Rock, Camden, and Conway.
Services are also provided to smaller satellite towns such as DeQueen And
Monticello.
