We offer 5 to 6 positions each year on a competitive basis. The exact number
of positions depends on unexpected vacancies and funding issues.
The required clinical year is included in our 5-year program. Only one
application, interview, and match number are required. The NRMP number for
the 5-year program is 11211670.
All positions are filled through the National Residency Matching Program.
Completed applications and supporting documents must be transmitted through
the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) by November 15th. ERAS can be accessed at http://www.aamc.org/eras/start.htm.
Interview decisions are made in an ongoing fashion as completed applications
are received. The program director screens for confirmation of eligibility
requirements and determines who will be invited for an interview based on
(1) academic record and (2) personal information, such as letters of
recommendation and the personal statement. A passing USMLE score is the
minimum we will accept, however, most of our residents score above 230.
We do accept international graduates. If you are an international medical
graduate, we require documentation of current visa status as well as a copy
of ECFMG certificate. Our department sponsors the J1 visa.
You may view a copy of the contract that
applicants who match to our program will be expected to sign before beginning
the residency program. Currently, the file is only available in Microsoft
Word Document format, which may easily be viewed in an Internet Explorer
browser.
Selection Committee
The residency program director, Dr. Buchmann, and the radiology department
chairman, Dr. Ferris, head the residency selection committee each year.
All faculty in the radiology department are invited to participate on this
committee; those who volunteer are involved in suggesting which applicants to
invite for an interview, interviewing applicants, and contributing to the
rank order meeting. The final rank order is determined by Dr. Buchmann and
Dr. Ferris, but they rely heavily on input from the faculty and residents who
met the applicants on Interview Day. |
